Nintendo never really did anything with Donkey Kong anyways. If Rare hadn't brought him back then nobody would really even know or care about him. Nintendo can make as big a deal out of DK as they want, the fact is they never made any good, original games starring the ape, and they never gave him much personality, either. Rare did all of that.
GC had Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and they are remaking it for Wii.
Also, for the Wii Donkey Kong had Donkey Kong Barrel Blast (WII). that came out 1 year and 1 month ago.
So, no Donkey Kong isn't dead.

Exactly. DK 64, the DK Countrys and all those other good DK games are long gone. And we will never see good games like those again. Maybe, but what are the chances of that happening?

Why not- if they are recreating MarioKart and SMG and SmashBros and everything then why cant they recreate DK? The DK franchise on SNES was probably my fav all-time franchise and I honestly think that the core gameplay would still be awesome this gen.

Me too! Thier is at least a chance of a DKC DS since Microsoft doesn't have a handheld... If such a game is announced I will probably die of anticipation!

One of the things that I think is keeping DK platformers games out of the shelves is that the history needs to be refreshed, in all of the DKC and DK 64, King K.Rool robbed something and/or someone and it was your duty to get them back. After a few games that argument may have grow boring to many gamers and that made Nintendo to think in a new history as well as a new publisher.
I wouldn't say DK is dead but he hasn't had very many good games as of late. But I think DK jungle beat was a great game and its a cool change for the platforming gameplay, many people overlook it since it doesn't have anything to do with DKC, but it didn't bother me much because i dont really care for the DKC characters anyway so i didn't care that they weren't present, but donkey konga and barrel blast are bad games that are taking donkey kong into dare i say modern 3D sonic bad territory, with far too many characters that focus more on them than dk. I think DK needs a restart and a platformer that has the production values of Mario galaxy cuz really dk deserves much better than what hes getting as of late.
What about those two DS games? I heard they were pretty good...

You are right I haven't seen any DK games lately except for the DS, I think DKis going to come out in the future but for now is sticking with the handhelds.

Come on Nintendo. Resurect te franchise. And don't give us these crappy Donkey Kong Barrel racing games, or gimmicky games like Jungle Beat. Let's see a new game akin to DK64.
