How do you turn off wiimote without turning off the wii?(I know its dumb)

Hit the home button on the wiimote and click the wiimote options at the bottom. Once that menu comes up, hit the reconnect button, and that will disconnect all wiimotes. Just hit the 1 and 2 buttons simultaneously on the wiimotes that you want to connect, and the others will remain off.

When I first got my Wii, I thought the power button on the remote turned off the remote... Took me a while to stop trying to use it :P

I wish the dang thing would just turn off right after you turn off your wii.

I pretty much don't wanna use the wiimote jacket not because of the battery thing.
