6.5? IGN=5.2? are they kidding, they must have played this alone
id say ive played it enough to judge that it was awesome!
even with 3 players and 1 comp its still fun but 4 plyers is wicked
obviously it doesnt deserve a 9 but i mean 7.5 atleast!!!

[QUOTE="buckman-101"]when has mario party games ever been fun.Homesrfan
When you play them with more than one person.Â
i played it with my friends on the 64 for 10mins turned it off and watch one of my friends play yoshi story.Sounds like they simply gave it a score of "average", which is probably where it belongs. I can see how interesting it would be with many players, but how often do youhave 3+ people playing all the time?Sunrie
Rarely ever in my case... and I only have 2 Wii-motes anyways.

so i shouldn't listen to some professional who gets paid to review games and i should listen to some random fanboy on a message board? ok................
for me i feel that this is one of the worse mario party games i've played
the controls are often times sporadic
the all too annoying luck element feels even more imposing then before
ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS VOICE ACTING THAT MAKES ME WANT TO SHOVE ICEPICKS IN MY EARS
the character movement just seems off and rushed and unnatural
and all together i hope this is the last instalment of the mario party franchise

The problem is that it is Mario Party 8, there were already 7 before this and they're all the same. They need to change it up a lot before I ever look at this franchise agian. As it stands however, I have Mario Party 1 & 2, which is just like Mario Party 8 except with crapier graphics.Â
Let's not forget, that like any job, professional game reviewers can sometimes end up bored and stagnant. I know if I was asked to review, say, Zelda I'd be hyped but if someone asked me to review madden, I'd be bored to death, hard to be 'impartial' when you're reviewing a game or genre you really don't usually connect with. Professional reviewers I do not trust because they, like us, are bias, no matter how impartial they are supposed to be. Hell if I'd listened to some movie reviewers I'd have never seen Star Wars, my all time favorite movie series.
Game reviewers can and often do 'lose the plot' when it comes to reviews, my opinion is, get your own mind, don't base your purchases off a game review on IGN or Gamespot or any other site or magazine, rent the game first and see if you like it.Â

Why would you buy Mario Party to play alone? The word "Party" is in the title.Â

Not exactly, but you should always consider the source, and also consider the points brought up in the reasonings behind why its good/bad...Just b/c a 'reviewer' is considered professional, doesnt mean he can give you anymore insight into the game than the next avid gamer that plays all the time and can give you a different opinion.
This Mario Party probably does not have as much lasting value as the other ones, it has less minigames and is missing some stuff from the previous Mario Parties (DK/Bowser minigames) that made things dramatic. The graphics look better, thats about it.
It got the score that it deserves, but I bought the game for what it is since I need some multiplayer action.
Ya, let's listen to you instead! Because your opinion is so much better than theirs!Sonick54
To be fair the TC is in a better position to judge the game than a professional reviewer; who would get two days at the most to play/review the game and probably wouldn't get chance to play it with anyone else. Mario Party is like a board-game, only fun when your playing with friends. I'm not trying to say who's right or wrong though, I haven't played MP8 so I can't comment.
