I think so too. $129 for 3DS and $169 for XL would be a good combo. I just upgraded to an XL but a redesign 3DS that is rounded like the XL, has the same design with start/home/select buttons and such would be great
I purchased the system at launch at $250 and still think the pricing felt fair considering the heavy stream of good games that have been released the past 2 years. I'm already more satisfied with the 3DS than I am with the DS and I can safely assume its not even halfway through its total lifespan. And in turn $170 already seems like a very good price based on that sentiment. $130 would make it an insta-buy for a lot of people though, so one could argue they could make up for the cost difference in extra game sales. However since it's already selling so well, there's no reason to take that kind of risk.
They don't have to but they probably should. The 3DS is selling well outside Japan but it could still be doing much better. Â Even a price drop to $149.99 would be helpful. Â It would have more mainstream appeal anyway. History isn't on a price drop's side though. Â The DS launched at $150 and dropped to $130 after 6 months due to mediocre sales. Â Then it started selling well (especially when the DS Lite came out) and they didn't bother dropping the price for like 5 years after that. Â I think it would give the 3DS some huge momentum to drop the price right before christmas but they probably won't. Â Also yes a redesigned small 3DS would be great. Â
Give a price drop to a console that is selling very well? Solaryellow
This. Why would Nintendo intentionally cut into its profit?
The 3DS is selling like crazy still...why change it. And besides a better battery the XL is worse. Dont even try to argue it against me.
Do you think the original 3DS should get a price drop $130?DiamondAmmo
Not yet. It's selling well at $170 and it's definitely worth that price.
