Anyone else think the addons are getting ridiculous?

Now before you all come in here and say "you dont have to buy them blah blah blah" hear me out. I know I dont have to buy them but alot of them are generally good but they honestly need to stop. Wiispeak would be amazing if more games utilized it. The wii balance board is cool for wiifit. The wiiwheels actually make mario kart more fun. The zapper has a fun game with it. Its all good but now this vitality sensor thing? And the classic controller pro possibly? Why would we need these? I dont want to get these but my luck a game I want will come out that utilizes them. I was hoping after the motion plus this would be done with but I guess not. Your thoughts?

The only games that need an add on to work correctly are Wii Fit and Wii Sports Resort, Tiger Woods, Grand Slam Tennis, and soon Red Steel 2

In all cases they come packaged with the add on

I don't see the problem

Ok, I heard you out, but the argument remains the same. You don't have to buy them. Motion+ is probably the only peripheral that will be widely supported, but so far, even it has very few supporting games.

I have a couple M+ and the balance board, that doesn't seem too bad to me, especially considering the very high quality of both. Getting a regular scale that has the sensitivity of the Wii balance board would cost well over $100.

did u even thoroughly read what I said? I said I liked the peripherals that are out right now I just wish nintendo would focus more on them then coming up with new ones. Like the vitality sensor which honestly looks like the dumbest thing I have ever seen and the classic controller pro and whats wrong with the regular classic controller? Im just saying I wish they would have stopped at the motion plus try to get more games to use that and wiispeak.

Yes, I read what you're saying and you're wrong

The vitality sensor looks awful but I don't have to buy it because it's not even out yet

The controller is the same controller, just another iteration of it. Do you already have one? Glad I could solve that problem

All the games that need an add on come with an add on. You can use them for the game that they come with and that's it. If more games want to add them then that's fine but it's ends at that one game that it comes with. I don't see the need to make every add on work with as many games as possible if you never have to buy the add on separately.

I see what you're getting at now, and I can sympathize. It would be nice to see Nintendo setting a good example for 3rd parties by supporting their own peripherals. Seriously, not one event in Wii Sports Resort supports the balance board?

yeah thats what Im saying the addons they have out are already good so why not focus on more games that use them instead of pumping out more peripherals?

You left out the Wii sports package and the Legend of Zelda sword and shield, just to let you know. Two really big ones there. Oh, and the lightsaber, that too.

i dont really see your argument/complaint - I guess Nintendo could make more games supporting their peripherals, but then this would upset some consumers because they would HAVE to go back and buy that add-on. For example I don't have a balance board.. so if there were a couple of WSR games that required it I wouldn't really be too happy..

The classic controller pro is just a variation on the classic controller.. no game is going to require a pro. And I don't see many games requiring the vitality sensor either, there's an article about its uses here. but i dont see many devs making use of it. The only real addons that offer new functionality and will have to be required are the balance board, M+. and WiiSpeak. The wheels and zappers are just pieces of plastic to help immerse you into the game and will never be 'required'. 3 addons doesn't seem to be too ridiculous

I think there's definitely too many addons...

I guess it's just another way for them to make money though.

I agree with you, some of the addons are getting a little out of hand, but some are great, like the wii whell and wii balance board. But I can see how you are annoyed.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo didn't make those, first off, so they don't fit into the TC's complaint. I don't think Nintendo should bother with 3rd party peripherals, because they are usually cheap. (I'm assuming the ones you named were not made my Nintendo though, if they were, then this is irrelevant. :P) On topic, it doesn't bug me... If I was getting the peripheral with the game I'd expect it to work with the game. I didn't buy Wii Fit hoping to jog through Hyrule Field with the balance board, I bought it to play Wii Fit.

I don't mind them when they make things better, like wm+ and the bb. the guns I think are pointless, it's easier to use the wiimote alone.

I think that the Classic Controller Pro seems okay, it just looks more comfortable and that seems to be a good thing. The vitality sensor does have me wondering though ... When I first heard of it, I didn't, and still don't really have many ideas about it. The only thing I could imagine it being used for is for exercise purposes, but I don't think it's THAT necessary, is it? Really, the bundles that bother me are the attachments where you can make your Wii Remote look like a tennis racket, baseball bat, or golf club. It's not the biggest issue for the Wii though. I mean of course, people aren't going to buy what they don't plan on using. Of course, I'll definitely get Wii Motion Plus, and the Balance Board and Wheel when I purchase Wii Fit and Mario Kart, but for things such as the Vitality Sensor, I don't know about items like that.

All that can be said is don't buy them, all I have is the Wii Wheel that came with MK, if it didn't come with MK, I wouldn't have a Wii Wheel. I will get WM+ because it will be used to enhance gameplay and some games will require it. Other than that who cares what else comes out, if people want to run out and buy every piece of plastic Nintendo puts in front of them thats their problem, me I could careless if they came out with 50 more peripherals in the next 2 weeks, I simply won't buy them. I don't know exactly what the Vitality sensor will do but if it doesn't do something that will spark my interest I will pass on it, so no there's nothing ridiculous about it. For nearly as long as there has been games, there has been peripherals, you either buy into it or you don't, thats it.

All systems, even ones from the past, had add-ons. This is nothing new. Ones like the balance board, Wii Speak, the Wii Wheel and M+ are actually useful and used. I don't think you were gaming when we had ROB and the power glove for the NES. Check out peripherals from years past and you'll see any arguments you have against Wii add-ons are not what you're making them out to be.

I see what you are saying, sometimes I wish games would make use of the current peripherals out there, but like you and others have said, they only seem to be aimed at one or two games and then drop to the wayside... The way I see it if the peripheral is in the console box at the same time then devs might use it more, if not, you are buying it for one, two games tops... It's been that way since forever.

WHo would have thought that 3 years later... The Wii would do as it was made, that will show me!
