A year later, do you still play Mario Kart Wii?

A few days from now, it will be exactly a year since MKWii was released. Initially, I enjoyed it. I got to a 9000 score online and playing with friends and family was fun. However, the chaotic, random nature of the unbalanced item system really got too annoying for me. Compared to MKDS and MKDD, MKWii is a madhouse that takes too much aways from the racing element. I play it sparingly though and accept it as a quality title. I hope the next entry tones down the worst items considerably (Blue Shell, Bullet Bill, Mega Mushroom).

I'm playing it right now, actually. The unpredictability of the races is what makes it so fun for me, partly because of the craziness, and partly because it makes it even more satisfying when you can still win fairly consistently despite the craziness.

I'm actually playing it now more than ever. However, Excitebots looks like an improvement over MK in almost every way--right down to the online multiplayer.

Yep, by far the best Mario Kart ever. If I'm not playing Mario Kart, I'm not playing any other racer. And I still need to unlock a lot more stuff.

the craziness of the items and just the fact that id rather be in a kart then in a bike kinda turned me off, so now i rarely pic this game up (too bad, its got a great selection of levels). besides the wild items, this game still has the best online imo, at least in terms of lag and matchmaking

I definitely still go online with it from time to time. Was playing a few races a few days ago. awesome time! :D

Its definitly my most played Wii game, logged more hours on it than anything else by far! Still have a few more characters to online, think I have one or two more karts/bikes to unlock.. The motion controls just make it hard to put down!

Hell yeah I still play it! It's a staple in our dorm room. Admittedly we don't play online, but local multiplayer is great!

That's the only game you got since MK?!

I'm not against Mario Kart, but you have a point, I have not played that game since I visited home and played with my 8 year old brother.

I go through MKWii phases. Every once in awhile it will be the only game I play for a month, then I don't pick it up again for awhile.

Great game, single player, multiplayer and online. Though I wish they would have done the battle system differently.

Yes from time to time like Brawl and the online is fun.

I still play it a lot. I was just online with it an hour ago. I tend to hover between 8000 and 9000 most of the time, and still don't find it boring.

I don't mind most of the items... Stars and Mega Mushrooms are easy to avoid with the warning system. With Bullets you just stay away from the middle of the track.

The only item I really hate is that damn cloud. A self inflicting item? Why? And when you get them more than once in a race it can be down right infuriating.

If they got rid of that item, I'd be happy.

i still prefer the karts.

i love going into a room filled with racers on bikes and beating them all in my Sprinter Kart (especially on a course like N64 Mario Circuit where bikes have an advantage).

It's the best way to play with your friends in split-screen on the Wii IMO.

I play it on a regular basis.

I actually haven't played it in like 6 months since I beat it. I gave up on getting 3 stars for every cup. Impossible.....
