The amiibos are pretty much trophies from smash bros. Why did nintendo never release smash trophies when melee came out? They already had the trophies in game and I'm sure kids and anyone else who liked collecting stuff would buy physical figurines. I mean, I'm happy they're doing it now and that the figurines have some sort of dlc type aspect to them which is cool. But did it never cross nintendos mind to make them earlier? I feel they just released them now to compete with skylanders and disney.
