What will 3rd generation 3DS be?

Usually, it's a pattern. 1. the original , 2. the improvement, 3. the specialized version

GBA -> SP -> Micro

NDS -> Lite > DSi

3DS -> XL > ?

The game boy advance has 2 versions of the game boy advance SP, one was front lit and the other was backlit

the DSi XL was also the last DS in that line, and there is also the 2DS that came out that is basically the 3DS but no 3D (If i'm correct)(

Yeah, isn't that the 2DS? If the Micro, the Lite, and the XL can be considred "generations", then the 2DS would certainly fit.

I am really curious if they will come out w/ another 3DS. Seems like the system will be around for at least a few years so I figure Nintendo will be breaking out at least one more revision. Personally, what I'd like is something about the same size as the XL but w/ better screens. I don't think that will happen. I will say though I think the next iteration will be like DSi where it will lose some backwards compatability. So the next 3DS will not play DS games. Of course, that was my prediction before 2DS so if I keep making it, it is bound to come true eventually...
