On the Wii you can go to the Internet and on the Internet there are virus' so can your we get a virus and if it can how do you get rid of them?

no, there are no wii viruses.

Why would you go looking for them in the first place? :|

the wii itself cannot get a virus. it is using your computers router and is using the signal. you are basically on your computer but in a different room. So im guessing that even if you did somehow, it wouldnt effect the wii.

the wii doesnt have a harddrive... dont you need one of those to get a virus.

No, there are no viruses written for the Wii that are known of. Plus, I think you need a hard drive to get a virus.

My intial thought on this topic was to say "Stop looking up porn on the Wii!". It would be possible in the future to get a virus on the Wii if someone worked to develope one. The Wii does store cookies onto the Wii. So if someone decides to create a script that can be run from the cookies. It is possible but there aren't any known cases at the moment.

Due to the wii not ruing executable files - it is theoreticly impossible to create a virus for the wii BUT hackers have done impossible things in the past. They may be able to access flash exploits or something like that, so still be carefull what you do on the wii.

Just a matter of time before there will be some sort of virus on the wii. Prob be something that wipes out everything or some sort of annoying thing like that. I hope that does not happen but there is bound to be something in the future to cause headaches....

That's completely wrong

As for the Wii chances are it will never get one because the internet is so neutered as far as it's power as a browser. That's why I hope Nintendo never listens to people who want to be able to download things and make it play different formats.

It's fine how it is and right now that's it's biggest advantage against any sort of virus.

Anything with an open connection has the potential to get a Virus. It just takes an intelegent mind and a overlooked weakness ("hole") in the security that's been put in place. Consider that there are Virii designed for cellphones!

That said, how much damage a virus can do really depends. The Wii's operating system isn't running from the drive, so it would be next to impossible to overwrite. The most it could probably do is create some annoying glitches when you inadvertently activate it, and these would surely go away once you restart (turn off and back on) the system.

Also, in order for a virus to infect a system AT ALL, it must be designed for it. A Windows viruses....the most common type... will only work in Windows, and nothing else. A "Wii virus" would have to be specifically made for the Wii.
