Has anyone ever turned off their console or removed the memory card while a save is happening?  I only ever did it with Pokemon Red for Gameboy (and it still saved fine), but I want to know what happens.

It is something I have always been curious about for some strange reason, but have never wanted to do it myself, incase something bad happened.

lol im guessing like the warning says ur memory card has a risk of losing everything. Its just like a pc flashdrive if u dont wait to eject it everything becomes corrupted.

Who in their right mind would do that?  Talk about not being the sharpest knife in the Kitchen.

90% of games say "Saving, do not power off or remove memory card".... So of all times to pull the memory card out......

You're not to do that because in the prcoess of saving, your game file is being overwritten, or deleted and then rewritten, if you do so when saving, your system doesn't get to restore the data back on it ergo you have no save file when it's powered back on.

and you also run the risk of corrupting other data on your card. My power went out last year while I was saving to my Gamecube memory card and it corrupted the entire card, I had to delete all of my gamesaves

When I was in the Photo Channel I removed my SD card while it was LOADING the pictures. I thought it would be fine because it wasn't saving anything onto the card, just loading. But the next time I tried to use the same card, lo-and-behold, it's corrupted. I can't even reformat the card. It's now completely useless. Thank goodness I got 2 1GB SD cards for $30.
If my SD card got screwed up while loading.... then take a guess at what would happened if you were saving.

Not only that, it can destroy the game pak (gameboy game) or the memory card that your saving the file to. Why take that chance?

The memory gets corrupted and you can't load/save that data anymore.

oh man, out of all the years I have been gaming, that has always been my fear...  Especially after overcoming chalenges, while saving I always think in the back of my mind "it would REALLY suck if we had a blackout now".
