I know this sounds very un-Nintendo but I really think they could announce Wii U Zelda at VGX Awards this weekend. Reggie and Nintendo are attending and seem to have something up their sleeve. They never, ever attend VGAs and the fact that they're going out of their way to do so seems to indicate that they know they need to get the "VGA Audience".

Any Nintendo announcement, like Mario Kart 8 or DKC release dates would seem sort of out of place in a show filled with Uncharted, Fallout (maybe), and other darker IPs which are likely to dominant the broadcast. Add into this the fact that Nintendo has said they did plan to reveal the game at E3 and then at NY Comic Con, they seem like they want to show it off show.

Perhaps they'll release a teaser trailer aimed at the VGA crowd this weekend during the show? I know that isn't something Nintendo typically does but hey, the Wii U's doing badly so why not try something new? I don't know if it would really help anything but I can't think of any Nintendo announcement having any impact at VGX except Zelda U.

It does seem very strange for Nintendo to do something like that, but I think it would help out a lot.

Yea like I said it would be totally out of left field but with sales lagging I think they may be getting the message that as awesome as Nintendo Directs can be, they don't get seen by as wide an audience as they'd like

They might have a TEASER for it. Like that E3 2011 Zelda HD Tech Demo. But I doubt actual gameplay till a special January Nintendo Direct like this past amazing January Direct. Or at E3.

Oh god, I can't wait for the January direct. I know there is no proof that there will be one but a man can continue to dream. Please make a big January direct a tradition Nintendo!

@bonesawisready5: As much as I would like to see Zelda U, a Smash Bros trailer is more likely.

@bonesawisready5: There will be a Direct in January. There is 1 every month. No guarantee it will be a HUGE one. But my guess is it should be again. Just so Nintendo can start off the year showing whats to come.

I agree.

It seems too early for a Zelda announcement and they can easily produce hype by revealing a Smash Bros newcomer with a kickass trailer.

I have no idea.

All I know is that I am very curious to see what they have in store.

I stand corrected about it being "too early," but I still believe we won't see Zelda Wii U on VGX, unless Miyamoto and/or Aonuma are also attending. It'll be a nice surprise, but I wouldn't have my hopes up.

Last I heard, they were going to show it at E3 2014. They're more likely to show the new IP Miyamoto has been working on.

@BrunoBRS: Miyamoto was at it before. Zelda was the 1st game put into the Video Game Hall Of Fame.

This would be EXACTLY what Nintendo needs right now. They really need to capture back the core audience and theyve lost alot of the casual audience as well. The VGAs get the attention of both those markets. Zelda almost seems like its hoping for too much though but that would make the most sense business wise. Regardless they need to show something a bit darker than their norm. Maybe an update on X?

This is my wish. Zelda U would be a great announcement but we knew a Zelda game was coming from a mile away.

Hopefully, have a feeling it'll be something else though and I'll be excited either way but I'm sure Nintendo knows that Zelda is one of their series that can obtain a lot of hype.

I say its a new trailer for X. Official name revealed and release date. Plus this is the 1st time Nintendo has come to the VGA/VGX to show off something. The only other time they were there, Miyamoto accepted the award for Zelda being put in the Video Game Hall Of Fame.

I'm saying its a new Smash trailer. Didn't one of the original announcements say that it was "a new look" at an upcoming game? Or something along those lines. That makes it sound like something we've already seen but getting an update.

I'm pretty sure both Reggie and Geoff had, in fact I believe it was Reggie or NoA's PR that said that it was "a new look" at an upcoming game.

Nope I think they'll save Zelda for 3 so don't get your hopes up. I hoping for Metroid but at this point who knows what it will be.

I was in my therapy session today trying to remember what was so important about this Saturday. Thanks for the reminder. XP Btw I hope it is the new Zelda but I doubt it. I bet it's something about Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros or DKC Tropical Freeze. Those are the next three big ones coming out so I'm sure Reggie will focus on them. I'm also pretty sure he'll get asked about Zelda and say well we've got something special in store for E3 fans or something along those lines.
