This rumor is coming from GoNintendo. If you know these guys you will know how they don't usually step out on a limb with rumors. I'd take this as almost legit, as close as you can get really. [QUOTE="GoNintendo"] This information comes from a long-time reader that has been very trustworthy with information. I don't want to give out there name, as I want to keep them safe. Just believe me when I say that info they've given us in the past has been spot on. - Wii U will be 'about $300) - expect the big push for Wii U to kick off in September - Nintendo Land will 'definitely' be a pack-in - don't expect a digital version since the physical copy will be packed in with each box All sounds very plausible to me. We'll find out what rings true in a few months!

About 300... how delightfully vague.

Hopefully Nintendo have conference planned for September, which will include a load of new game announcements, even if they're not launch window titles.

I like goNintendo (in fact, I visit the site quite often), but it's in no way immune to having questionable sources regarding at times questionable topics. Sometimes, the information posted barely classifies as Nintendo related at all. :P

That being said, this does sound reasonable, at least. We'll just have to wait and see if this actually comes to pass.

Isn't that when the Tokyo Game Show occurs? :D

I think that this sounds like a reasonable leak, although we'll see how true it actually is.

So....were this to be true, what do you think Nintendo's going to do to unleash the big guns?

I'm thinking, new Starfox.

It being $300 was my exact guess.

That's pretty much what I figured. I can't see it being much cheaper than that, and Nintendo Land is going to need to be a pack-in (or come with a controller) to be successful.

It should deff. be under $300 ($299 my guess) and have a pack-in game with it. Nintendo Land does seem like a good choice.

The Tokyo Game Show is in September, I expect we will get more details then. IGN has put up an article showing a retailer listing the Wii U price for around $435.

Well here in the UK an online shop called ShopTo (one of the cheapest for games in the UK) has it for pre-order at £279.85, which is around £100 more than the original Wii launched at, and roughly converts to $402. However here in the UK company's can't set a limit on how high a store sells an item for, only the minimum they require, add to that things often do cost more in the UK than they do in the US this price range could be very likely for us. Also, I was fully expecting Nintendo Land to be bundled with the WiiU, having Wii Sports gave a fairly significant boost to sales of the Wii, as well as got the people who played it more confident with there skills which in turn lead to them trying out more games later on, not having a pack-in game would probably hurt sales of the system regardless of price because people now expect it of Nintendo, and would feel cheated if they didn't.

Hopefully that means £200 and i'll bite, any more and they can take a hike. Don't care about Nintendo Land but its better than nothing, I actually think Mario as a pack-in like the old days could be a winner.

Nintendoland imo has to be a pack-in.

Show off what the system can do, get the install base with the casuals, and get media buzz all over the place.

$299 is a good price if you get the pack-in. The system would fly off shelves it was 279 or 249 with the pack-in. But hey, under 300 is fine with me.

That rumor sounds reasonable. $299 is highest fair price they could make the system, especially if it comes with a pack in. Nintendo Land has me intrigued a little, but I wouldn't pay extra for it.

It seems a bit too much. I hope it's $250. I hope Nintendo Land turns out good, cause it looks like a little "hehe" when you first pop on your wii u, but then you'll never play it again.

$300 is a steal. I could see it happening, but I think the $350 mark is more realistic. Its substantially more powerful then current gen consoles, has a very advanced controller, plus a pretty big game as a pack in. The 8GB of memory does reduce costs, as well as no Blue Ray or DVD. I will not take a second to buy a Wii-U at $300 though, I would probably go as high as $400, it looks really great. Also the strong launch Lineup would be worth it. September also happens to be right around my birthday. Launch titles I would want are ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3. Other titles that I think will be in a launch windows would be Assassins Creed 3 and NBA Live 13 (EA said they plan to release their sports games, so I'm assuming NBA Live will see a release since it is rebooting). I would consider buying Darksiders 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

That sounds extremely reasonable and if true, I hope they release a cheaper version without Nintendoland because I really don't want that game...

Why not? I won't believe a thing until Nintendo confirms it, but even so this rumor seems pretty logical.

My advice, people should not start saying "Oh this is the price" and then get all upset when it turns out to not be the price. I'm still expecting $350.
