Just depends on whether or not you like old-school RPGs. I think it's hard for some people to get into because it's plays exactly like a 16 year old game except with updated graphics. You also have to do a ton of level-grinding to be able to survive and the story is very basic.
Personally, I love the fact that it's total old-school, though, because it reminds me of the good old days when I was about 9 or 10 and the first Final Fantasy was first released. To me it's absolute nostalgic goodness and still remains as my favorite DS game to date.
I found FF3 to be a lot of fun. I typically never cared for impersonal stories (FF1, 5, etc.) but there's something about this one that made it interesting. The job system isn't as complex as FF5's, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of taking on different monsters with different job combos.Â
