I am quite surprised it has bumped up a notch of the esrb scale.

I'm curious as to what triggered it.  Perhaps things are being taken up a notch as cut scenes are more graphic and bloody? Or possibly it's the same as along the another 4 in the series before it but the 3d triggers it: like 3d Blood, 3d stereoscopic violence, and 3d Boobs?

Did Capcom aim to make it M? Is this good on the business side?

phoenix will have to investigate the rape and murder of trucy, which will be depicted in an extremely graphic CGI. or terrorism allusions.

I wonder if it's just one or two graphic moments that is triggering the M-rating. I recall hearing that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was going to be T-rated at first before they discovered bare-breasted character models in the game's coding. If this is the case, I wonder if it's possible for Capcom to tone down the scenes in question in order to knock it down to a T-rating, and if they would actually be willing to do it, artistic integrity and whatnot.

The game is the same from other AA games. Though, from what I heard, there is a very graphic scene.

I was surprised of the rating when I tried to download the demo. I wasn't interested in the game that much, but the M rating has me wanting it a lot more than before.

Defo weird. One scene could make it M.

I noticed that on the eShop. I haven't played the other AA games, but they seem pretty lighthearted even if they deal with murder and other stuff. It never seemed like the courtroom stuff was enough to make it an M-rating.

well each chapter starts with the murder scene happening, then you spend half the time on the chapter investigating the crime scene and related areas, and half the time in court. so it's not like there isn't room for some graphic stuff to happen.

A digital copy could be prevented if the parental controls forbid the purchase of M rated games, whereas the physical copy would be bought like every other game. I'm wondering if you reversed the physical and downloadable copies in your post, to where eshop would not carry this title. But if that were the case, I'd like to bring up that there have been a couple of M rated titles available on the Wii Shop Channel back when the Wii was Nintendo's current console, it's been done before.

I'll be getting this for sure, and it'll be my first time playing a game in this series. I need to go back and play the originals soon, I love text heavy games.

Uh No

Its all on Capcom

and to be fair, atleast on Capcom's side, its so they can localize the game as fast as possible. Otherwise it wouldve taken them till next year to release the game in the US

I think it might be because of their graphics. Haha. Considering they went for 3d models, it probably looks a lot different from the violence from sprite people...
