@ Pedro
WHAT ! :l . Seriously !? Thats Fantastic. :D
This topic is locked from further discussion.
@El_Zo1212o: Honestly it never comes across like that simply because it doesn't seem like you actually put the information to use. Most of the targets just boil down to a fight or something. It came across as busy work and there was little variation between the intel gathering missions.
@Lulu_Lulu: Ever hear of a self imposed challenge? Some people do that. Yet again, if the game were truly cheap and not about skill, people wouldn't be able to beat it at low levels.
Why am I even bothering? You've never even played the damn game.
@ turtlethetaffer
Yeah, some guy finnished COD with just a Knife. That makes COD 30 times more awesome....... Not !
Anyway like I said, I'm not critising D Souls, I'm critising the genre itself and by extension D Souls, loop hole.
and like I said before, you can beat many RPGs by playing it safe and carefully chipping away at the baddies health, it just takes longer and its more tedius, yeah sure you can have something to brag about but is the sacrifice really worth it ? Is it really ? Didn't think so. Meanwhile every other game will try to impliment difficulty in none cheap ways and don't require a fuckton of grinding just to beat a baddie you know you could have beaten if it were a fair fight because its only advantage is its bloated stats. But hey. Its just my unpopular oppinion, don't let Lulu shatter your hardcore illusions.
- Uncharted 2 is the prime example of bad game design. I use it to illustrate what not to do when making a game.
-Sucker Punch is Sony's strongest developer
-In general, Nintendo's first party is the only one worth a damn with better gameplay, level design, and offering a much higher and legitimate challenge than the competition.
-Devil May Cry 4 was easily the best hack n Slash of the past generation
-Darksiders is outright and blatantly a better game than any one of the God of Wars
-As it stands right now, Wii U is a far better next gen console than Xbox One and PS4 as it actually has a better library right now and announced for its future.

I know this is a unpopular opinion thread but had to respond to this one :) So you are actually telling other people how not to make a successful game?
And in regards to the Wii U LOL.yep sure its a better next gen console, a better example on how not to make a console :D

Hmm, are we talking about CoD: Ghosts?
But you are right to criticize Dark Souls its a terrible game which unfortunately have been hyped up to be something special.
-I find Legend of Zelda games boring after a while. I've owned a few and never finished one. Considering the new one on 3DS though.
-I don't dislike Kratos from God of War. He is a berserk brute who reduces everyone he meets to a red slushy puddle but it's always done in such an OTT, bloody, violent and entertaining way.
-XBL Gold was only a ripoff until Games with Gold existed. As long as that's part of XBL I don't mind paying.
-Uncharted 3 wasn't really worse than 2. It has as many improvements over 2 as it does step downs. Expectations were also higher.
-Generally I'd like less cutscenes in games but in Metal Gear Solid it doesn't seem to bother me.
-I don't know how Nintendo plan to stay relevant (consoles). The Wii was an anomaly, other than that they've been getting less and less popular with each one. This Wii U is a new low.
-The Vita has a strong overall library for a bombing platform.
-Halo 4 should have been an Xbone game; The entire series needs to slow down. As someone who will always consider Combat Evolved as one of the greatest games of all time, 343 can go **** themselves with a salt covered spear for Halo 4's campaign.
-Microsoft's 1st/2nd party lineup- for the Xbone's first year- is actually very good.
-The PS4's- and to a lesser extent, the Xbone's- launch lineup is fine. Multiplats, downloadable games, PS+ "free"/F2P games...I don't see much reason to complain.
Shadow of the Colossus is one of the worst games I've ever played in my life, and it's a prime example of putting artsy fartsy shit ahead of gameplay. They obviously wanted you to feel a sense of struggle, and they succeeded, because all I did was struggle from fighting the horrendous controls. Don't give me that the gameplay sucked ass due to realism either, because there's nothing realistic about this sack of garbage.
Story in video games is nothing but fluff, and I think anyone that values it over gameplay is in the wrong hobby. That goes for developers too.
Video games are toys, not art. I'm sure it took some artistic vision to design my old power ranger megazord toys too, but that doesn't change what the end product is either. I hate it when people slap the word "art" around as to proclaim that video games are a high intellectual form of entertainment.
I think these franchises suck: Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, and Kirby. I also think WW is the worst Zelda of all time, and I'd rather play Faces of Evil or Wand of Gamelon over it.
K, I'm done for now. :)
@turtlethetaffer: I think the reason people overlook that aspect of the original Assassin's Creed is because nowhere does the game direct you to the information you've gathered. It was my first completed playthrough when I found that out. I'd got bored of it and set it down for something like ten months, so I picked it up again one slow weekend and picked a pocket. It said I found a map of the guard patrol routes. So I looked at my in game map and didn't find anything new, so I kept poking around in the pause menu until I found out where you could view the letters and the maps and whatever else you gathered, stole or earned to get you to your target.
That time I didn't set the game down until I'd finished it.
@El_Zo1212o: I guess that's it. I don't ever remember it telling me I could look at the info. But that doesn't change the fact that getting the info never changes... The only thing that does is that sometimes the conversations and stuff are different.
I really enjoyed the setting but I think it's still the worst one due to lack variety. Causing trouble in the world is decent fun but there's nothing really fun to do once you beat the game.
That Fallout New Vegas is still the best RPG ever made.
One simple fact... something i want to see more in games and something not many games do... Every NPC can be killed. There are no Gods, anyone (no matter how important they are) can be taken out and the game just goes with it.
Nothing I hated more in SKyrim then having some stupid barbarian slag, talk crap to me because I didn't help them slay some giant they were messing with, then make some snide comment about slaying me where I stand, so my response, COME ON THEN! You vs me, you, who thinks you so good, just like every other NPC I mowed down the last 2 caves and abandoned fort to get here, vs me, and my 20 health pots and quick reload system, BRING IT ON!
After 2 swings she's down, but no, she's not dead she's just K.O, in 5 secs she will get back up and fight again because she's part of some quest later so she can't be allowed to die.
Total poo.
Fallout New Vegas.. Why are you not worshiping that game!
Plus with all the expansions it's a damn epic saga.
@ Evil_Saluki
Because its an ambitious, buggy, impractical Piece of sh!t. All these Massive Open World games need to relax, and actually use their resources to make the game better instead of bigger/longer/jam packed full of boring content. It worked just fine for Arkham Asylum.

And for Sleeping Dogs
I think the devs have an idea that as long as they make it open world big they are set.
All of your favorite games suck, and you fail as a person for liking them.
At least, that's how I feel when I read an unpopular opinions thread. :(

Ya, its like the most popular titles are the worst because they are popular :D
But luckily noone but yourself can tell you what games to play.
The gameplay in Demon's Souls is not challenging except that which tests my patience. The gameplay is good, but all of the challenge comes from having stats comparable to every opponent. Once a character is powerful enough, nothing in a playthrough can defeat him without being bad at the game. Many call Demon Souls challenging for that reason.
-I like Final Fantasy Tactics more than the rest and I am including VII and IX. VIII was a good game.
-I think MGS2 Raiden is decent character.
-Metal Gear Solid 4 cutscenes were exceptional.
-Devil May Cry 2 was not a bad game.
-Fallout 2 is better than Fallout 3
-Legend of the Dragoon is a good game.
I think that is enough.
Oh yes someone mentioned Demon Souls. The games ugly and plays like a rusty tank with squeaky tracks. Your character is as ugly as the grey world that surrounds you. Gamespot community was to blame for me trying out that game, as it was said to be something very special, yet all anyone ever had positive to say about it is "It's difficult" You know what, go throw your house keys down a sewer grate on a rainy day, getting it back might be 'difficult' and about as much fun as I had playing this. It's not that I was challenged, I've played worse (Fighting camera angles in Ninja Gaiden) yet when someone tries to jump to the defense of the game, it's always "It's to hardcore for you" Like you can talk to me about hardcore, been playing games since the ZX Specrum 48k, and the first save ability I had was on the Commodore 64 where we had to reprogram the game up to the point we were at.
I love this thread... Let it all out.
Gamestop = Piracy
Either way you look at the devs aren't getting any of that money. It really is a shame when people are willing to pay $5 less than new for a used copy of a popular title.
I always buy new, though sometimes I wait for a price drop.
Skyrim is game of the year 2011. No Batman arkhamasylum was way better because they improved on the previous game unlike TES
Fez is a great game and Fish is a genius. Wrong. The gameplay in fez is so medicore and the idea behind it was in my mind when I was 9 years old.
Metal gear solid series has the best writing ever. Right. If you consider it a children's book.
The main story in Fallout 3 wasn't very good. It is amongs my top 10 stories in video games.
God of war series reinvented the hack 'n slash genre. No they just ripped the whip from Castlevania and made it 3D. (seriously are they blades of chaos or whips of chaos?)
Dark souls is a great hack 'n slash RPG. No it may be a great RPG but it has nothing to do with hacking and slashing (more like being hacked and slashed for like 20 billion times)
Portal is the most innovative video game to date. Just get lost.
Walking dead had one of the best stories in recent years. Of course if you consider ripping off various stories and themes a story.
Symphony of the night is the best metrovania game to date. Ok but looks like this best didn't bother adding new pixels by the second half of the game.
@Boddicker: That's crap. Every used game was sold new once. What's next? You gonna say you support online passes and locked single player content?
Arright lets see here.
Old School FPS's are way more inventive than modern MMS/FPS in single player.
In the future. After seeing the success WoW CoD and BF multiplayer etc..The publishing titans, plan to make massive-multiplayer the only way to game. The future of mainstream video games will be worldwide, always-on F2P casinos, that exploit, and monetize all user actions and content, and vaccum up all players hard earned money. all your play data and choices will be sold, and analyzed by marketing groups just like your social networking data is sold to advertisers etc.
Some of us may end up too broke to game.
@ Jacanuk
and they are mostly right. I have a theory, maybe most gamers don't step outside their comfort zone in Real life so everytime an open world game comes out its like a big dose of adventure for them.
Not a bad theory :)
There are actually people still alive today who label gamers as indoor types who don't go out. Holy crap.
And you post on games forums? Obviously you don't get out much.
Wait... This just went nowhere.
My unpopular opinions?
1. Call Of Duty 4 is the most overrated FPS game, period. Is it an good game? Yes, but not the greatest FPS game ever.
2. SP games are ten times better than online MP & CO-OP!
3. Infamous 2 is an overall better than the first game (alot of people had said that second game is garbage. Uh....what?)
4. Call Of Duty World At War has me detest Zombie video games.
5. I've never play The Saboteur, Assassin's Creed series & Mass Effect 3 (yeah, I know)
6. Splinter Cell Conviction is the WORST game of the series, period!
7. Duke Nukem Forever is an FUN game (why the "hate" towards the game?).
8. Hitman Absolution is better than Splinter Cell Conviction
9. Metal Gear Solid 4 is nothing more than an action game (NOT an action-stealth game) with ridiculous cut-scene.
10. Pro games aren't athletes.
My un-popular opinion:
The best Assassin's Creed game is Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
From story, to freedom of movement (hook blade ftw!) to the beautiful setting to the music to the modern-day story to the design. That game just nailed it. :)
@ wiouds
I'm a he......for now
The human brain is a funny thing, it cant ignore something it doesn't like. The best you can do is not to respond. And let Lulu have the final and only say.... :D.
Besides, I'm not trolling, I'l yield to logic, if only somebody had any to spare :(.
@Boddicker: You make me sad.
@tom_cat_01: This opinion just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
@Evil_Saluki: I think Demon's Souls looks good. It does not have the best graphics, but the animation of the armors is some of the best I have seen in a game. The Havok engine does it credit.
@Lulu_Lulu: I was talking about Demon's Souls, but not Dark Souls. I have not played Dark Souls, so I have no opinion of it based on personal experience with it.
Fez is a great game and Fish is a genius. Wrong. The gameplay in fez is so medicore and the idea behind it was in my mind when I was 9 years old.
Wow man, I imagine how angry you must have been when you saw that idea you had when you were 9 years old converted into a few million dollars and universal critical acclaim. :/
I'll give it a go:
Unpopular according to who...? I've already seen opposing opinions both being presented as unpopular. All opinions are unpopular.
- People should shut up more and not have opinions on everything.
- Scores seem largely irrelevant and also seem to be bad for the gaming industry and should therefore be dropped.
- I'm a happy gamer and to be honest I couldn't care less about all the dlc rip offs, supposedly bad and generic AAA titles, digital games and inconsiderate publishers. There's way too much out there that I thoroughly enjoy.
- I've enjoyed all EA published games that I've played (look at my previous post and make the joke). ;-)
- I agree with @iHarlequin that broadening the audience for games is a great thing. We should continually and extensively discuss and question the identity and borders of gaming communities.
OK Cool Thread.
1. Paying to play is just wrong and Sony taking this policy up has put a major dent in my trust for the brand and may well move me to XBox which i had avoided before due to the charges.
2. To many games good games go under the radar or are underrate or not re rated after significant changes. Dragons Dogma is quite close to being the best game i played last Gen and the expansion makes it a hell of a lot more well rounded game. Reviews need to be reviewed to reflect the changes in game. Proud to see Gamespot doing this now.
3. Woman play games lots of them! Really then how about you come to the UK and introduce me to some! This little fact is BS its VERY Rare actually i do not think i have ever met a woman who plays computer games for a hobby. Maybe once in a while or rarely with a Boyfriend but as a game player. They are still a minority in the gaming industry yet every website seems to have a presenter who is a woman and a gameplayer?! Its odd and i want it to be true i want woman to be a part of my hobby but here in the UK its frowned on a lot by woman and a big turn off. They dont understand or care to understand the hobby and the rare ones that do certainly do not want to talk about it. I know men and woman are different but i just find it a little boring that most woman i talk to are just into Music, Films, TV, and generic boring things like makeup.... Girl gamer yes please any of them?! HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What i wouldnt do to meet a woman with similar interests just once in my life.
I know this is a unpopular opinion thread but had to respond to this one :) So you are actually telling other people how not to make a successful game?
Commercially successful is not synonymous with good game design.
