Last Gen has ended, and the Xbox 360 Controller has been cites as the best AND one of the best controllers ever 8 years running now. Last gen, the Gamecube Controller and Xbox controller for larger handed folks were the best controllers the gen before. However, the Gamecube controller was still used with the Wii as a preffered option and lasted longer so we know more about the effectiveness of the Gamecube controller. So, which is the better controller? Last Gens Xbox 360 controller, or 7th gens Gamecube Controller?
The Xbox 360 controller is the best of the recent 6th and 7th gen controllers. Even Nintendo seems to agree with the Xbox 360 shaped Wii U pro controller.
Oh I think the Xbox 360 controller is far superior. I really never liked the GC controller it never fit my hand right, and it always felt like a weird toddler toy or something to me. I really liked the Gamecube, and it had some awesome games, but overall I felt the controller was really lacking!

ugh i HATED the GC controller with a passion! The small ass D-pad and the different sized/Different shaped face buttons made it the worst controller ever, imo...So yea, xbox360 controller is MUCH better.
I love the gamecube controller, but the 360's is just less flawed. I didn't really like the button layout on the GCN, and the d pad isn't much better than the 360's.
I actually think, for shooters, the 360 has the best controller so far. It's only weak end that most people mention is the d-pad, but that's really only used for selecting weapons/ menus.
The GCN controller is great for 3D platformers and fighting games, but I can't really compare the two controllers in those genres because I haven't played any games like that on 360.
I've been using Xbox 360 controllers since 2005 and they've become my 'go-to' controller most of the time. Whether I want to play on my 360 or use it for multiplats on my PC, the freedom is pretty nice to have.
I like having the left analog stick up for most games so I prefer Xbox or GC controllers to PlayStation, personally. I think I like the GC controller slightly better than an Xbox 360 controller unless I have to use the d-pad in which case my opinion reverses. I like S-controllers for the original Xbox better than either though.
360. The only thing I could hold against it is the d-pad (which is still passable), otherwise it is a surprisingly solid design. I've found fit for many games especially on PC despite having moved on from it.
