What type of weapons do you want in a platform game?

Imagine a game like Mega Man, where you run, jump, and shoot. However, there has to be more than just that to keep the game going. There has to be more weapons that the character can use.

What type of weapons do you think would suit one well in a platform game?

I prefer tools over weapons.......

Sword or spears. Because believe it or not, I could never get into Castlevania games because of he whip. I'm just shallow like that.

Hell yeah !!! tools can be more deadly than weapons, how ´bout them nail guns ?

@Gue1: Try Symphony of the Night. That one doesn't use whips except for in the beginning. After that, it's mostly swords

Fire flowers and raccoon leaves.

sniper rifles if its a modern action game, or swords like in god of war if its a fantasy action game
