Ifind the excessively long 20+ minute intro to Wing Commander IV hilarious. But in reality, I'd say Half-Life 1's unexpectedlycalm-before-the-storm intro is still my favorite.
This is probably a silly answer, but I've always loved the intro movie to Super Smash Bros. Melee. It was the first thing I ever played on my Gamecube, and I was amazed (!!!) at how good the Gamecube looked.
Final Fantasy 6. Totally blew me away first time I saw it. You had the characters looking down on the city of Narshe in standard sprite mode, and it was all good. But when it switched to the 3rd person view with you looking at the Magictec armor from behind as they marchedthrough the snowfieldswith Nashe slowing coming into view, my jaw hit the ground. The great music went a long way in making that so memorable too.

WhenI got my GameCube with SSBM, I was blown away by the intro... it is the best one I've seen...
I suppose its considered an intro, I like on World of Warcraft whenever I create a new character it takes me through the starting area and tells me some of the history of the race.
I hate to sound like a broken record... but Shadow of the Colossus does so many things well... and the intro is just another among the extremely long list.
I think for me either final fantasy 7 or 8's intro. When the chords come in the ff7 intro and you see the logo...that really impressed me. Heh that reminds me i should replay ff8. I remember there was one seen at the end that i really liked.
This is probably going to sound retarded but NHL 2000 had such an enjoyable intro. Yeah... sorry for not going with something artistic or deep but I still like watching the intro once in a while.

That's not a silly answer, I also agree with this choice. When I first turn this game on, I was surprise on how every character models look so good. It was quit lenghty too which made it even better, but the real surprise is how early the game was made. It wasn't one of those late games that look good, but an early looking one.
