I mostly buy games new, and I rarely trade them in. If I have to buy a used game it is usually because the local stores are no longer carrying new copies. Some might say that I am more of a collector than a gamer because I will never be able to finish all of the games I own.

Is the golden age of video games about to end? I am wondering if the next generation of consoles will only play digital games. No more GameStop and no more used games. No loaning games to friends and family. Will we have to be connected to the internet to be able to play games? What happens when the local server goes down? Will we have to pay a monthly online subscription to the console maker in addition to Wi-Fi to play games? Will we have to buy virus protection for our console. Will we have to buy a new console every 6 years to play old games?

There are probably many advantages to going completely digital. Maybe its not the end of the Golden Age of video games.
