Rated M is 17 and Up?!

News to me. This whole time I was under the impression that it was 18.

Nope, it's always been the same, since the ratings system came out years ago. Rated M is the same as Rated R was before. In orer to purchase or rent, you have to be at least 17 years of age. I don't know where they get their standards of age for what is mature or not, becuase I know a lot of 21+ year olds that still aren't mature. But then again, as the years have past, I've seen some kids that grow up with a lot of responsibilities, just the way it's supposed to be and by the age of 12-13 they are just as mature as a lot of grown ups that I meet. So, maybe that age requirement could be brought down in a few years if more kids turned out this way, but I doubt that's going to happen.

At the store FYE you only have to be 13 to get rated M games

Honestly it doesn't matter to me cause I can get M rated games real easily. Did I mention I'm 15?

Some stores have policies that you have to be 18 or older to purchase M rated titles. The ESRB age is 17, but stores do not have to adhere to it.

17 seems to be the number in America while everywhere else it's 18

Depends. Some states have passed laws forcing you to be 18 or older to buy M-Rated games.
