Nope, it's always been the same, since the ratings system came out years ago. Rated M is the same as Rated R was before. In orer to purchase or rent, you have to be at least 17 years of age. I don't know where they get their standards of age for what is mature or not, becuase I know a lot of 21+ year olds that still aren't mature. But then again, as the years have past, I've seen some kids that grow up with a lot of responsibilities, just the way it's supposed to be and by the age of 12-13 they are just as mature as a lot of grown ups that I meet. So, maybe that age requirement could be brought down in a few years if more kids turned out this way, but I doubt that's going to happen.
