I currently own the Xbox 360, PS3, and a gaming desktop with a i7 and GTX 680 from 2012 and I am looking to upgrade to a next-gen gaming system once my next pay check comes in.

Which of the three would be the best? I usually play mainstream AAA games that launch on all three platforms like GTA, Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, etc.

Any recommendations?

Heck, I aint even a PC gamer, but I would even say go with the 970 "IF" your not worried about the exclusives tittles that both systems offer.

That's like asking if you should get a Lamborghini or a Honda Civic.

The next gen consoles use mid-end 7000 series AMD cards.

@raedkaddoura: so much wrong in that thread. For one they are definitely not the same graphically. For two there is nothing stopping you from using a controller on pc even the ps4 controller will work if you choose.

Agreed, the PS4's graphics look great and will only get better, but the 970 overall will still be the better machine! Again, this is coming from a proud PS4 owner and as I've said before, the only thing you will be missing out on are exclusives.

But as you have said, all you play are mainstream tittles, then exclusives shouldn't matter to you.

I upgraded to a 970 from a 680 recently, its a decent improvement, but i probably could have stuck with my 680 gtx for another year or so since i mostly game at 1080p.

It feels around 20% faster maybe. If i still gamed on my 1440p monitor the 970 would be key for that. It doesn't use much less power when both are max'd i found the 970 actually can draw more power then my 680 did.

So if your still gaming at 1080p, you can probably hold out for a year. But its a pretty safe bet you will like the 970 if you get it.

I think the next gen consoles are crap, but if i had to pick i'd go PS4.

Depends on your computers spec and how soon you need to upgrade the rest.

But i would get a 970.

There is nothing on the Ps4 or X1 that would warrant a purchase now if you got a decent gaming pc.

If you don't get a PS4 your missing out on a whole bunch of exclusive AAA titles for the PS4 though, for me personally when comparing the graphics on both the PS4 and a 970 which isn't really that big of a difference from my point if view and then taking a look at the games that will come out next year for the PS4, i would definetly go for the PS4 + The dual chock 4 controller is pretty much the best controller ever made.

easy choice bro, if you want to use mods then pc upgrade, if you don't use mods stay with console, much cheaper option

I have just upgraded to 970 and also needed larger ps to run the card, so $850 later, all is well :) (well until next upgrade is needed :( )

if I could live without mods, my trusty xbox 360 would still be used and my bank account $3000 better off

$850 for a 970 and a new psu?

something's not right there.
