Next Mass Effect game to be a generational leap in graphics

The graphic seems to be even better than those of Dragon Age Inquisition. That seems insane to me, as the DA already looks amazing now from all the videos.

Today I had a chance to check out Dragon Age: Inquisition at Gamescom, and to chat with BioWare Creative Development Senior Director Alistair McNally, who is also working on the nextMass Effect.

While Dragon Age: Inquisition definitely looked impressive running on PC (and you’ll learn all about it in a dedicated preview soon) McNally was very clear in mentioning that the nextMass Effect looks a generation beyond the upcoming fantasy game visuals-wise.

That’s because Dragon Age: Inquisition is still a cross-generation game, and there are a lot of factors limiting the current generation version due to the fact that the gameplay needs to be the same on old-gen consoles.

The next Mass Effect (unfortunately I could not convince McNally to reveal its actually title, to the surprise of no one, even if he did confirm that the previously leaked code name Mass Effect: Contact was indeed used by BioWare, but it’s not the official title) will not suffer from the same issue, so BioWare will be able to complete the generational leap.

Awesome. Dragon Age: Inquisition is a great looking game so I can't wait to see how Mass Effect: Contact is going to look.

Can't wait to actually see some footage of the game. A pure next-gen experience(just like the Witcher 3 and unlike Inquisition which already looks great) is bound to look gorgeous. The sci-fi environments of the game have all the potential to come to life like never before.

generally true about BioWare graphics. They don't seem to optimize their games very well.

I have.... Been watching Extra Credit Episodes for 2 hours.

Extra Credit is great. I haven't watched it in a while (I don't go on youtube as much these days), but I remember their videos being top quality stuff.

Funny enough... extra credits seems to agree with most of my crazy antics, and only debunks a few of them.... But then sometimes they appear to contradict themselves because of there big definition of games.

No matter how much it pains you....

The only improvement I care about is that they are going to make the game play more like Mass Effect 1 and less like Mass Effect 2.

Neither, They are going to make it more like Mass Effect 3 since that one had the best gameplay. But if they are really clever they can go beyond that, they can emphasize the difference between classes by drastically changing the way they play that it borders on changing the genre.

it clearly says pc, ps3, ps4, 360 and X1

The only games that showed a huge leap in graphic fidelity so far are Uncharted 4, Infamous and Order 1866. I'll believe it when I see it.

You only list PS3 Titles, non of which are anywhere close to PC Prowess.

That leap was nothing compared to PS2 to PS3. And to be honest... I'm not impressed with the PS4 or Xbox One.

the Witcher 3 footage on PS4 was nice, but we'll never know if that was on pc or ps4
