Hard to say the ultimate number 1 due to varying genre's. I can't say my favourite FPS is subjectively better than my favourite racing game. I can narrow it down to 3 games that to me are above all other titles.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The game is freaking huge, yet so detailed at the same time. It's amazing. And there is so much to do between the main-quest, guild-quests, "Gods" quests, and the expansions quests. And tons of random side-quests to boot. You can literally spend a 100 hours in this game, and still have a journal full of undone quests.

also I'm only using 1 game per series (the favorite), the reason why Metroid Prime 2, Half-Life 2 proper, and Resident Evil remake or Code Veronica: X didn't possibly make it.

kotor 2...yea i know its major glitchy/plotholes/incomplete game....but its still my all time favorite.

Have you tried the Restored Content Mod? It basically restores all the cut content, fixes plot holes and bugs and lots of other good stuff. Here.
picked it up for the o.g. xbox. tried finding a pc copy of the game back in the day to take advantage of this mod but couldn't find one. now i don't have a pc i can play games with. heard it was on steam now. tks though
