Is Wii VC still operating after one year of Wii U?

I would like to know because I intend to buy a couple of them this week. Plus, I read that the Wii U Virtual Console was "reset." I have neither console at this point, so I am hoping someone who does or has had experience with them could inform me.

Wii Shop Channel and the online multiplayer component for games is still operational. It's all the frivolous stuff (News, Weather, Everybody Votes, etc.) that have been discontinued. The Wii U VC library is also much smaller compared to the Wii store, though the games do have a couple extra perks. Also, if you want Earthbound, you'll have to pony up for a Wii U, because that's never coming to Wii.

The Wii virtual console is still up and running and is fully accessible through Wii U. You can play any game that's been released on Wii's VC on a Wii U. Hope that clears things up.

In addition, all Club Nintendo VC games are Wii VC and not Wii U VC (remember, Wii VC can be accessed from Wii U).
