We're looking for a new Social Media Producer. If you have experience and are interested apply here!

Here's a bit about what we are looking for:

  • Build and maintain strong GameSpot presences on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and other social channels
  • Establish and perform to meet or exceed KPIs for audience acquisition, social following, effectiveness of social media efforts
  • Drive growth of our social and distribution channels and provide analytics, measurement, insight and reporting to determine focus and direction
  • Manage day-to-day relationship with GameSpot community
  • Moderate community communication channels including forums and live chat
  • Development and manage community features, programs, and tools
  • Assist in overseeing team of GameSpot.com volunteer moderators
  • Accountable for community growth and satisfaction goals as well as reporting on community driven trends and feedback

Considering Jimmy_Russells posting history that I've seen, he's probably the last person you'd want managing a relationship with the Gamespot community lol

Great reply though.

Considering that the profile is a troll just out to cause "trolling" i would say its a good bet that gamespot wont consider him. And you guys are to easy to please, i heard better jokes in a 2$ standup club.

@Jacanuk: I think @The_Last_Ride is asking about what type of past work experience they would look for/prefer the applicant to have.

Also, it would be awesome if a forum member got hired.

And thats what is listed there , its kinda obvious they want someone who either have a communication degree or past experience as a community manager or ihave been in a communication role.

But as they list more in depth in the link

3+ years of experience in managing Social Media channels and branding
Thorough understanding of the worldwide gaming market and the rapidly changing gaming coverage sector
Experience in planning, developing and executing successful customer acquisition strategies
Must successfully pass a background check.
Strong ability to build and relationships and influence
Ability to apply strategic thinking
Hands-on attitude, not afraid to dig in and get your hands dirty

Also it looks like its a position that's based in the office in SF so you need to have a green card or be a permanent US residence. Dont think they are willing to sponsor anyone outside US. But perhaps Digitaldame can shine a light on that :D

I know you didn´t ask me but if i recall a few from the forums have been hired, both Danny and Caro began their Gamespot presence as regulars on the forum and then applied and got hired. I think there might be 1-2 more but they were both in the uk office.

Hopefully , they'll finally have some real gamers and good writers . G$ articles and reviews were nothing more than click baits for 2 years now .

@Minishdriveby: Yep, I myself was a lurker for a long time. Then you of course have others (Danny and Carolyn for example). Elk almost joined the dev team once upon a time, though I'm unsure of what became of that.
