"Best" is hard to qualify, so I just picked Other. And my "Other" is Marty O'Donnell's work on Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Halo 3 was also memorable, but 1 and 2 were the best in my view. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with the original.

Hope no SOTN fanboy rushes to this topic but I have to say that Castlevania Lords of shadow has the best music I have ever heard

I voted for Zelda, that theme is up there with Star Wars for longevity. (...In fact the 2 Main-themes would make a gnarly mash-up remix)

Yet Megaman 2 has some pretty awesome riffs & beats going on.

Journey's the one I keep returning to. Every time I put on some music, it's often Journey that I load up. Usually "Nascence" or "Apotheosis." It never ceases to amaze me how effortlessly it weaves story into audio, let alone how absurdly beautiful each track is.

Hotline Miami's a real close second, though. "Hydrogen" alone makes the soundtrack incredible. It's catchy as hell and fits the fast-paced, twitch-based action of the game perfectly.

As much as I love the music of the Zelda series, the classic Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger have the best video game soundtracks I have ever heard. The Sonic games also have great music.

wow, no one has voted mass effect, i really liked the soundtrack to me3.. anyway i would have to go with final fantasy xiii myself.. it has one hell of a soundtrack!

Soundtracks that should be on that list as well: Assassin's Creed II, Dead Space, Dragon Age: Origins, Heavy Rain, Journey, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider (2013), Uncharted.

All considered, it's so hard to choose one, but my favorite would be TESV: Skyrim. Jeremy Soule's work is fantastic, and The Streets of Whiterun remains, to this day, my favorite video game song ever made.

Sonic the Hedgehog, easily. Aside from Dark Brotherhood, every soundtrack I've ever heard over the past 22 years has had awesome tunes. My all time favorite soundtrack would be Sonic 3 & Knuckles', and specifically, Ice Cap Zone's music.

Wow, no Japanese music lovers? I have to say Persona 3 & 4 strike a chord with me when it comes to video game music. I actually have the opening song to Persona 4 as my cell phone ring tone

I'll have to go for Red Dead Redemption. When the music starts playing after you've killed one of your old gang members and/or when you first enter Mexico, I just can't help but ride around on my horse till the songs stop. I also ride around aimlessly while listening to the soundtrack (and enjoying the scenery, of course)! All in all, I guess Red Dead Redemption is my favourite game when it comes to a lot of aspects, haha.

I voted LA Noire, basically because I love the main menu theme. But, in totality, I think Donkey Kong Country has to be my favorite. Stickerbrush Symphony is the greatest thing ever.

I love most soundtracks that feature in the list, but my personal favourite is the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault soundtrack by Michael Giacchino, although I have to admit this is mostly for nostalgic reasons. I started playing videogames relatively late and MOHAA was my first shooter and it made a huge impact. The menu music and the simple theme that came back in almost every track; it was wonderful.
