Every time I click on a link your stupid videoplayer BLASTS the SAME STUPID AD and it does it EVERY SINGLE TIME I CLICK ON a LINK. And the sounds is always at MAXIMUM VOLUME and the ad running is set to be MUCH MUCH LOUDER than the actual video content that is played after, so after turning the sound down to 5% to avoid shattering all the windows in my house, I have to turn it back up to hear the actual content you've produced. God forbid my volume on my PC is up over half when your lousy goddam video player decides to blast another (EXACT SAME AS THE LAST FOUR HUNDRED) ad at me and practically kill me it's so loud.

Seriously, what the hell is this a porn or gambling site? Do you people not know how to run a proper, legitimate website? I actually feel embarrassment for you that you feel you have to do this amateurish crap. Can you PLEASE tone it the hell down or do I just have to stop coming here and go to one of your ten thousand competitors?

Please provide at least some of the following information when reporting a disruptive ad so that staff are able to find it and do something about it if necessary:

  • A screenshot of the ad
  • The URL of the page the ad appeared on
  • The date and time you saw the ad
  • The product advertised
  • Country/State can also help track down regional ads

General page ads shouldn't be playing sounds, automatically covering most of the screen with popups, or redirecting unless you interact with them in some way first as they are consider as intrusive if they do. Video ads however play immediately before the video does, and the video autoplays once the page is loaded and you have the tab it is on active (for videos at the top of the page only I believe), volume settings are stored via cookie so you can mute by default if the sound is the issue, as this is stored via cookie the volume setting data is also lost if you clear them.

It sounds like your main complaint is the volume so whether or not it's considered disruptive (and is removed from the rotation as a result) comes down to whether or not staff consider the volume of the ad excessive. As such I make no guarantees on whether or not it will be removed as I've not seen any such ads personally.

@wemmick: Just for awareness if suitable information is provided - I'm not sure who else would deal with these as it's been a while since I've seen ad specific complaints.

Agreed, for me it's been that stupid video about kids in school with idiot mentors doing some sort of game show. I've had it blast loud music like 6 times when I was trying to read an article. This keeps up, I'll just stop visiting this site.

@robotopbuddy:Posting in the forum is fine - either I or angerawr will help out.

@jurk182 I see that as you scroll between articles the volume setting is not being saved - we'll get a fix in for that. Thanks for the report!

@jurk182: I gotta be honest, that was kind of a work of art. I enjoyed reading that, thank you. I will also add that I find the Autoplaying videos extremely disruptive, I live with other people and it's just bad form to have your videos do this shit. Literally, no one on this site appreciates this functionality- why is this behavior not fixed? You guys are usually really on this shit... Why do you guys do this to me, I pay my taxes, i floss my teeth- im a good dude.

It's some kind of fucking new script by CBSI, executed by its "vidtech" sub-domain. The script somehow doesn't need a Flash object to appear on-screen to play the audio portion of videos.

I added it to my block-list.

Don't bother with the site's own video player - you are better off blocking the heck out of it whenever you surf on GameSpot, and get videos from GameSpot's YouTube channel instead.

@wemmick: Every web page is still blasting videos (THE SAME VIDEO) at a ridiculously high volume every time I click into a new web page. This really is so fucking stupid and obnoxious. I am just going to stop coming to this website altogether, so great job. Your amazingly smart marketing department is driving your customers away.

Seriously glad it's not just me. Between the spoilers on the front page and auto-playing videos EVERY damn time I click on an article is ridiculous. I know Planet of the Apes is releasing. Don't need to be reminded of it with every click. Even when I mute the player, it doesn't matter. Click on an article, here we go all over again. And don't even get me started on that stupid ad about the kids/mentor show or whatever the hell it is. I'm just done.
