I am a total access member and have been for years.  During the past few weeks I have noticed that whenever I try to download a file, the download speeds are extremely slow.  I know it is not a problem with my highspeed internet access because I have no bandwidth problems with other websites that I visit.  Is there some kind of problem right now with the total access download servers?  Any idea when this problem will be corrected?

Thank you.

What kinds of speeds are you getting. (Note: I am not part of the tech crew. I'm just curious.)

Thanks for the reply.  It seems that the download speeds start at about 250 kb/sec but then drop down to almost an even 100 kb/sec in just a few moments after the download starts.  If I start a second download at the same time, the exact same thing happens and I end up with the 2 downloads progressing at about 100 kb/sec.  Feels like my download speeds are being throttled down for some reason, but I know that Gamespot vehimently denies that it does that, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Standard Save-To-Disk: Started at 600KB/s down to 300KB/s Flashgot/GetRight Combo: Started At: 950 K/s Averaged 1.05 MB/s So although I do see a downthrottle, I think that it might be something with your network. What kind of speeds to do you get on other servers? What ISP are you using right now?

Cox is my ISP.  Download speeds and overall performance on other networks is no problem.  Was able to download a 100MB patch from another site in about 2-3 minutes that Gamespot was telling me would take about 35 minutes at less than 100 kb/sec.  So it's got to be something with the Gamespot server.

Just in case anyone is still reading this thread, I received a nice response from Gamespot technical support.  Apparently they are in the process of installing a new highspeed download server and that's the reason for the recent reduction in download speeds.  We should be back up to highspeed downloads soon!

Good, you got an answer. I started a post last week about bandwidth problem while streaming video and never got an answer.

Hopefully this will clear up my problem when they finsh too.
