Just a question.. what does it mean when you don't close your quote brackets?

Just wondering.. 'cuz I tried to post a message on the forums, and a PM, but it kept telling me that I didn't close my quote brackets or have a well-formed HTML. Funny thing is.. I didn't use any quotes in my message. At all. Anywhere.

I simply had a list that replied to the question "Good DS games to own?" and had in the format of:

Game Name -description of the game, pros/cons

And, it just kept saying I couldn't post the message.

Is it a glitch on my part? Or, are the forums just not good at recognizing when you use quotes or not, or what?

Thanks for any info., maybe it can help me to avoid any future issues.
