Why does gamespot.com disallow new users to post more than 2 reviews!? What is the motivation for internet/game users to join/use the website? Please enlighten me! This isn't Yelp.com; it's not like game companies are paying people to use this.

To answer your question I'm afraid it has to do with people ruining those sorts of privileges for everyone. Without a basic level of restrictions in place many of the sites features can become abused. But don't worry, once your post count gets a little higher the restrictions will be lifted.
