This title has the particularity to incarnate what a RPG should be: The creation of an unique character that contributes to the story and development of the game.
With total customization of your character's sex, name and facial structure, you are able to follow his/her steps through her/his childhood, teenage and young adulthood - until you're mysteriously kicked out from the vault to follow your missing father.
Don't be shocked when you leave Vault 101 and face the Wasteland - also, don't think this is a brief state of the game - You will live with this dead land the entire game.
If you are a cosy gamer, turn on Galaxy News Radio (GNR) and let yourself be followed by Three Dog's voice and various music themes from the 50'.
Fallout 3 has the shocking ability to be very complex. There are two mini-games (The Lockpicking Mini-Game and the Hacking Mini-Game), and various speech challenges, which will be important if you want to extract special information from a character. The game is extremely detailed. The Wasteland is wide and is waiting for you to explore it. Don't stick with the major towns, like Megaton or Rivetcity. Many quests are waiting in the middle of nowhere, when you least expect it. There are many skills that you can improve in a personal way. If you chose to be a sneaky wanderer, pick up Lockpick, Sneak and Speech. If you are naturally strong, invest on the Unarmed skill. Like flashing experiences? Chose Explosives and Big Guns.
The game lets you follow two paths: the "evil" path and the "good" path. Be a demoniac assassin and kill every human being you see in front of you - or be more strategic and kill only the ones that interfere on your path. Blow up a couple of towns and steal from people as they think you are just a charismatic outsider. Unleash your bad side.
On the other side, if you chose to be the incarnation of Jesus, tell everyone how good you are - offer water to the beggars at Megaton or Rivetcity's doors, help people, ask for no reward when rescuing Super Mutant captives. Be a bit cynical if you need to, but feel good with yourself.
Be creative: the Wasteland is waiting for a Peacemaker. Or a demon, perhaps.
