A Must Buy For Fans ~ A Short, But Decent Fighter For Others

User Rating: 8.3 | Bleach: Heat the Soul PSP
Bleach is currently an ongoing anime in Japan. And, it was no surprise that a game was released based on it. Bleach: Heat the Soul is an anime fighter, with 5 characters (+ 1 unlockable) that is mainly geared towards it's fans. The graphics looks really nice. A bit cel-shaded, but nice overall. The opening music video was a good touch, importing the main theme into the game. The gameplay is simple: square does a ki charge-like move. X is melee attack. O is a special attack. Triangle is jump. Doing combos is as simple as X, X, O, O, O. It's the same for all characters, but even mashing it, is relatively enjoyable. When you press Square + Square, you can stun... Square + X and/or O, you do a special move. You can do one at any time, but, if you miss, and you're low on your meter, you'll be stunned and out of breath for a moment. Overall, it's simple, and definitely nothing new... But still fun. Mainly, I would describe this game as a fan's game. The only real downfall to the game, overall, is the lack of characters, but, it's somewhat understandable. Afterall, the currently released episode is 36, and you're barely introduced to any other characters. This game, at the time, was just about finished around the end of the first season, episode 25, or even before (Not including the manga). But, all in all, it provides everything a fan might look for in a Bleach fighting title and will give the fans something until the PS2 title comes out. For all others, it's a solid fighting title, and with the colorful cast of characters, it might just pull you into the rave.
