The "Campaign mode totally blows" review

User Rating: 8 | Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC
After getting booted from yet another "failed to migrate host" lagfest of MW2 involving hackers, knifers, and toob spammers, I decided I needed a new game. So I went out and bought the highest rated, most talked about war game available, BF: BC 2. Now I haven't played the focal point of the game yet, aka multiplayer, because I thought I'd familiarize myself with the controls via campaign first. And allow me to say, campaign completely blows. The controls are sluggish, and you have to break your pinkie holding LCtrl to crouch instead of just hitting it once. The visuals look like the game was made in the 90's. Instead of explosions, you mostly get a cloud of sparks. And you can't see past 10 feet thanks to sand and dust, which is acceptable in the middle of the desert, but later in town you still can't see **** and your enemy doesn't seem to share your lack of vision.

My biggest problem is that once again, your teammates are purely decorational. They generally crouch in the open and are incapable of killing a single person. I left them in a firefight and went to Kroger, came back and not a single person had died. Also, even though there's an entire squad to shoot at, most of whom are wandering around in the middle of the street, the enemy will completely focus on you. Be it mortars or snipers or machine gunners, you can be 50 yards back and hiding in shrubs and they will completely ignore your moron teammates. Another thing is that even though you're a Private, you are the pointman, leading your team from place to place.

And finally, being a tanker myself, I've gotta say the Abrams tanks in the game handle nothing like a real ones.

On to multiplayer.. hopefully it can save this game before I resort back to MW and it's akimbo g18s

edit: wow people hate me for this review.. but I've played multiplayer now and have basked in its genius... and still think campaign mode completely blows. Especially when compared to.. oh i don't know... MW2
