The picture shows star Chris Hemsworth alongside Cate Blachett as the villainous Hela, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Hemsworth was asked about his new hairstyle: "It was nice not to have to sit in the makeup chair for that hour each morning," he said. "It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character."

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi, and also stars Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum. Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role of Doctor Strange, while Loki actor Tom Hiddleston will also be making a return to the Marvel universe in the movie.

Last month, concept art from the film was revealed. It showcased an intergalactic gladiatorial contest on the planet Sakaar between the Thor and the Hulk--it is known that the movie will take inspiration from the Planet Hulk series of comic books.

Hemsworth spoke about Sakaar in the EW interview. "It's basically where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers," he said.

"No one cares what prince or king Thor may have been in another world. Also, his strength is pretty easily matched with those he finds himself amongst."

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
