As for the synopsis, it reads: "In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok--the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization--at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger--the Incredible Hulk!"

The gladiatorial aspect is taken from the Planet Hulk series of comic books. Last month director Taiki Waititi told Total Film that Sakaar, where these epic battles take place, would be one of the movie's main locations. "Sakaar was just an insane, far-off futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters," he said.

Mark Ruffalo will play Hulk's alter ego Bruce Banner once more, and the movie's impressive cast also includes the likes of Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, and Jeff Goldblum. Blanchett is rumored to be playing the villainous Hela, while Goldblum will portray immortal games-playing Grandmaster.

In addition, it was recently confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role of Doctor Strange, while Loki actor Tom Hiddleston will also be making a return to the Marvel universe in the movie.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
