A grounded flight simulator.

User Rating: 3 | Ace Combat: Assault Horizon X360
There are decent flight simulators. Then there is this one. A static flight simulator-light that tries to hook the player with promises of in-the -seat dogfights and steel carnage. What they experience is an endless repetition of same-ole staged events that rely upon fixed view arcade- style shoot-em-ups that give the illusion of actually piloting a fixed wing fighter. When playing this game one is reminded of the plane on a stick models that real pilots use to recreate their daring sky maneuvers they used to out fly their enemies. The game mechanics are the same. Except in this instance you and your plane are the plane on the stick. Consequently, there is no real effort to reproduce the reality of flight, Hence no real plane aerobatics. But the scenery moves from side to side as the controller is moved. This is a shame because the story and in-game graphics are actually good. Too bad they are not up to par with the dismal flight mechanics.
