The gameplay is very in depth, but is so repetitive, that I cant stand playing it.
The game is fun for its first 2 or so hours, but interst is lost about a day after that. The gameplay is very in depth, but is so repetitive, that I cant stand playing it. I played through the sandbox mode first, since its appealing that i can screw around with unlimited funding. One you have played through the first 2 hours, you've pretty done everything that you possibly can in the game. Its no fun at that point, because your redoing everything you've just spent the last 2 hours doing, building enclousers, placing your animal, naming it, blah blah blah.
Mission mode is along the same lines, your just doing the same thing repeatedly, only with predetermined goals, and a time limit. So not only are you doing the same thing AGAIN, but your doing something you really dont feel like doing, and have the pressure of being in a time limit. Doing the missions arent really worth the trouble either, they are just there to challenge you. In my opinion, I would had most likely had been into it more if there were better unlockables. Beating the last mission earns you a statue... Seriously, thats lame. If it were something like a new animal, my interest would probably be perked.
This might sound lame, but what pissed me off the most about the Extinct Animals expansion was that there wasn't a single sauropod. That made me rather upset, since they are my favorite. The only place you can find one is on Zoo Tycoon Volcano, there is only 1, and it doesnt walk properly (I know, im that into dinosaurs).
This game is simply not worth the price. I'd say it is only more fun when new animal mods, or buildings are added. With such a small selection of activities in the game, I managed to finish everything I could do too quickly. The only things I like about this game are the dinosaurs, and the freedom to walk around the park as a zookeeper.
