I must say that, from all the games I played until now, none of them grabbed my attention as much as this one. Although I didn't play the rest of the games from the series, it didn't take me too long to get familiar with the scenario, the story and the characters.

Those who already played the previous Yakuza games will feel at ease in this one. You play as Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza and the fourth chairman of the powerful Tojo Clan, which detains the power of Kamurocho, in Tokyo. All seems well in Kazuma's life when a series of murders starts to happen within the Tojo Clan. It's up to Kazuma to find out what's going on and save the day again.

The gameplay is rather simple. Square button gives a regular punch, Triangle a stronger on. Circle throws the enemy. R1 locks the target, L1 defends. R3 controls the camera. As you progress in the game, more moves show up.

Unlike other games, beating up rivals and gangs is not the only thing that gives you experience throughout the game. Doing subquests, such as hunting hitmen, going out with hostess and even playing with kids are great opportunities of making more money and grinding your character.
And if you don't like gratuitous blood spilling, you can always have fun the the minigames. You can play bowling, darts and even go fishing.

The story itself is pretty short, but definitely captivating. The soundtrack is also excellent and fits in every single occasion.

If the extras after you finish the game don't keep you playing the game, the minigames will. If you're searching for a game that will last for long, this is the one.
