Wonderful graphics, huge gaming areas, great story and script, cut scenes brilliant, but...

I'm new to RPG, I started with The Last Story, which had issues, but over all was a brilliant game from start to finish, albeit too short for my liking. My next jaunt was on the world of Bionis in Xenoblade Chronicles. It took me a while to settle in to the fight sequences, once I knew what I was doing and what everyone's skills were, there was no stopping me. After a while though I found the game play to be a bit boring, it was too samey in places, there weren't enough plot related side quests for my liking, and I was expecting some elements that would make my grey matter work. However, exploring this wonderful world was it's saving grace, the graphics are just amazing and the amount of work to create this world is just incredible. I was surprised at how easy I was able to beat Zanza in the final boss fights, I was only on level 87 and he was level ??? (whatever that was) and I took him down on each occasion without major damage to me and my crew. That was a little disapointing as I was expecting a challenge. Xenoblade looks great, feels great, but at times it's difficult to see where you need to head to next, particularly on Mechonis. I found the whole skill tree business complicated as I didn't really understand if I was linking the trees correctly, this I didn't complete. Also the heart-to-hearts were troublesome, I just didn't get when it said requirements haven't been met, there was no indication to as to what requirements these were. There are a lot of elements I couldn't see how they could be completed on the first jaunt around.

Overall I have given this an 8.
