A step behind WWF No Mercy, but still an excellent game.

WWF Wrestelmaina 2000 is a very well put together wrestling game. It has many gameplay modes, tons of wrestlers, lots of venues to play at, and one of the best features of this game, the ability to create and edit characters.

In this game you have tons of options to choose from. This game has all of the typical matches including singles, tag, three-way, royal rumble, and cage matches, etc. However this game also goes way beyond that. The main feature of this game is the Road To Wrestlemania. In this mode you choose any character you want (including created characters) and wrestle for five months, building up your characters status in the WWF to the final Pay Per View... Wrestlemania.

On your way to the top you will be battling other superstars for multiple titles, which are the Hardcore Title, Intercontinental Title, Tag Team Titles, and the WWF Heavyweight Championship. Throughout the five months leading up to Wrestlemania you will be wrestling in Sunday Night Heat, Raw, and four other PPV's which include the Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring. Over the course of this mode you will start out by wrestling low-status wrestlers. Over time your winning percentage will increase and you will face tougher opponents, and ultimately wrestle for the four titles available. You will first have to wrestle for the Hardcore Title, then the Intercontinental Title and the Tag Team Titles. If you have a good enough winning percentage and enough title defenses by the time you get to Wrestlemania you will wrestle for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. If you win, after the match you will be challenged by an opponent and immediately have to defend your title. If you succeed in defending your title you have completed the Road to Wrestlemania.

This game allows you to customize almost every aspect of the game including creating your own title belts, creating a Pay Per View, creating your own characters, etc. When creating your character you will be able to customize the moves (including strong and weak grapples, turnbuckle moves, striking moves, taunts, and entrance music and videos). There are a surprisingly high number of moves available and you can develop a character that suits your personal preferences for moves.

Now, the biggest knock on this game is probably the graphics and music. Yes, it is, for the most part, terrible. The characters look like blocks, the music's quality is terrible, and the video on the titantron is grainy. But we're talking about N64 graphics so you can't knock them too much.

WWF Wrestlemania is the second best wrestling game for the N64, but it is miles from a game released after Wrestlemania, WWF No Mercy.
