The PS2 is down but not out!
The bad: Dated graphics. free roaming is mediocre, and universe has some punishing elements. some dumb tweaks to the fighting system.Missing so much cool features from next gens.confusing controls at first.
As we know, the smackdown games have been out for years now(smackdown, smackdown 2, smackdown just bring it ,smackdown shut your mouth,here comes the pain, vs raw, 2006, 2007,2008,2009,2010) the recent one was one of my favorites (despite the changes in combat and aging graphics and others) this one, still has some remaining problems, but make no mistake. WWE smackdown vs. raw 2011 is a success.
The first thing youll notice is the changed controls. i was unprepared and fumbling around but after the first match, youll get used to em. the cool thing about this new set up is the combination system is back.you get a 4 hit combo, and awesome body slams that smash through tables. but the bad news is you pin with circle and pick up your opponent with up on the right analog stick, this is only a couple of confusions of learning the new controls.
The new modes are both good and bad. WWE universe contains a calander of events that would play out like the show (minus the pg rating.)and road to wrestlemania has free roaming RPG elements. But WWE universe has some punishing results. i once skipped to wrestlemania and my created characters team,belt, and friends and enemies list were gone. Road to wrestlemania free roaming is boring and upgrading you character takes too much time and no noticable change in matches.
the creation tools are fully updated,new story scenes,new finishers, and more. but theres a cost in the PS2. most of the new stuff is gone.
, smackdown vs. raw 2011 looks like 2009,The ps2 has people clipping through each other, ugly crowds,even lower low res up close textures. but thats not to say smackdown 2011 looks bad. it looks ok at some spots. but ultimately dated.
Overall though, smackdown vs raw 2011 may have some issues, but its still very fun to be the contender, the champion, and finally the winner of wrestlemenia where its your moment! 5 words. Never Count This Champ Out!(unless you got a PS3 or 360)
