The director seriously has something against rabbits.

User Rating: 6.2 | Whiplash PS2
I read about Whiplash in a Gameinformer magazine. I heard about a crazed weasel who is addicted to electric things and an invincible rabbit and how the weasel uses the rabbits for his own purposes. When I rented the game, I didn't go 2 hours into the game before I had seen enough. Whiplash gives you two characters, Spanx and Redmond. Redmond is the unlucky son of a b**** who takes more damage than any other videogame character to date. In the beginning, you will be cracking up to all the ways Spanx will torment Redmond, by shoving him into grinding gears in order to open a door or using him to bash around enemies. After about half an hour, you've already seen the most of Redmond's torture and just can't get a chuckle anymore. The point to the game: Destroy Genron and free your animal friends. The Genron company has a motto: We hurt animals so you don't have to. I didn't understand the point to the company at all. Why were they hurting animals and why were they experimenting on them and where is Bush when you need him? The graphic engine keeps the game at a Looney Tunes-like look alike. The Redmond and Spanx models are well done, but the enemy models weren't really impressive. You will be facing security guards, scientists, and some crazy bosses, like the Lunch Lady. The level designs are what I didn't like. Due to the game's lack of giving you objectives, you will be running around in circles over and over again, which is why I stopped playing. I really don't know what the game was directed at. It can't be younger gamers because of Redmond's constant death-defying torment, but it also can't be for older gamers because the game's graphics, music, sounds, and voices are all way too cartoonish. Personally, from looking at the game's quality, it seems as though the director was too busy reliving his childhood days and his burning hatred towards rabbits that he didn't really think about the game's all out result. After playing just 2 hours of this game, I know that Spanx and Redmond are far away from being anywhere close to being as cool as Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. If Eidos Interactive and Crystal Dynamics want to make a successful platformer, choose who you are sending the game out to and actually try to make a good game.
