Those honors belong to Mar-Vell, the Kree super agent she worked with at NASA when Danvers was first introduced in 1968.
However, in the mid-1970s, Danvers absorbed some of Mar-Vell's genetics, giving her the same powers. She used them under the guise of Ms. Marvel, before eventually becoming Captain Marvel herself.
