Looks pretty cool especially super time force and Dust an Elysian Tail makes me wish I had a 360 so I could play hopefully they get a pc port in the future. At least bit trip runner 2 I know is coming to ps3 as well to so at least can play that also they lied about it being the first HD bit trip games both bit trip beat and bit trip runner 1 I played at 1920x1080 on my pc!

Dust: An Elysian Tail looks amazing. By that I mean the look itself - the style of the graphics and the fluidity of the movement. I spend about half my time on my Xbox with downloaded games from Xbox Live Marketplace, with those mixed about evenly between dedicated Live games and retro games. I've probably spent as much time playing Outrun2 and Feeding Frenzy as I have most AAA games that cost tens of millions of Francises (or francs if you're the informal type) to make.

I remember growing up playing NES all the time thinking: "Man! Future consoles are going to be so freaking cool with intense graphics and 3D rendering abilities 2D Sidescrollers are going to look so awesome!" Because we can never have enough sidescrollers... never... no matter how many there are... there will be never enough... ever. EVER... So please: More constantly, regardless of what the consoles are capable of, please inundate us with sidescrollers.

@Victorious_Fize Super Meat Boy is the greatest pure-platformer I have ever played. As for Metroid/Castlevania, I missed the golden days. I bought and tried playing SotN and just couldn't get into it, but games like Outland that is a Metroidvania type game had me hooked.. And I'm just remembering Outland was made by Ubisoft, so scratch that one. But SMB rocks! Braid rocks! The Dishwasher rocks! LIMBO was pretty good! And upcoming games like Dust: An Elysian Tail look incredible.

I still can't see what indie games have for themselves that other old and reputable developers don't... be honest, you guys just want them to be big to slap EA's policies. :P I will say, Indie developers seem to be perfecting the platformering genre, I mean, those games looks great, but do they really contest Rayman or Mario, Metroid, Castlevania, and the likes?

@Sohereiam i'm not too sure what planet you're living on, but indie companies cause absolutely no problem to major developers. in fact, major devs like EA love indie companies, mainly because the indie company can takes risks that companies like EA can't afford to take. if a small indie group develops some new idea and it takes off, the big boys are definitely watching and taking note. indie companies are like small little test subjects that the big boys don't even have to pay for. also, the inability to resell digital copies of games has zero effect on EA (and the like) and indie developers. digital versions of games has only an effect on the used game market. are you honestly saying that having an attractive indie market is a BAD thing for major game developers? and to think that people spending more on indie and less on major titles is actually going to have a negative impact on the mainstream market? you need a strong indie market, or else all you're ever going to get are Modern Warfares and Assassins Creeds. also, companies like EA dont release digital downloads to combat against indie companies, where the hell did you get that info? digital downloads exist so the consumer has access to the product regardless of where he/she may live or whether or not they have the ability to get to a store... not everyone on the planet lives down the street from a Best Buy.

These look great. But I'd really love to see an old school story driven turn based RPG, with new elements and twists, inventive but simple graphics, and maybe voice acting. I can't believe no one has tried to take that on. Maybe Penny Arcade's new game..

@Gelugon_baat @de_graph The real problem is, too much indie game causes problems to major developers. How do they cause problem? If the indie market is too attractive, it may incentive people to sell their games to gain to buy these games, meaning more competition, and more used versions of their games on the street, on the eyes of major developers such EA, Activision, Ubisoft, indie market is like a plague to them. How they fight? They release their games on both retail and digital, the digital version is to compete against indie, they say its to fight against used sales, but the truth is to fight against indie, if people buy the digital version of their games, they will be unable to sell, therefore causing problem to used and stopping the consumer from buying from indie too, meaning less competition. Then why 2-D side-scroller the most used ? They're common and old style, most 3D mechanics are heavy copyrighted, if they use one without asking, they will demand to stop right at spot, in some cases they let them go just to sue them later, major developers have more power both economically and politically, a indie has no power at all. I support indie games but, this is the sad truth.

@deathgazerpsn journey was the biggest waste of $15 ive spent ina while. if it was $5 then it might have been worth it. there is nothing wrong with a game being 2d. all that matters is if the game is good. journey is a mindless cinamatic with almost no actual gameplay and even less replay. it had one cool feature, the co-op.

These were far and away more interesting and fun than the headline titles at the show. Yesterday you could walk up and play any game from the Indies in five minutes or less, or wait an hour to touch Borderlands 2. I love the Indie titles; unique art, novel mechanics, compelling gameplay (well, sometimes), just awesome. There are TONS more Indie games there, too. A really neat Limbo-like game called "Crowman & Wolfboy," "Monaco is Mine," and "Antichamber" were all very, very cool looking and equally fun.

@Gelugon_baat 2d sidescrollers are a cheaper and more effective way to get into the game market. its a lot easier to convey an idea and build a game without having to worry about physic engines, 3d models for everything, environmental lighting and so on. to say, if you've played one indie game, youve played them all is a pretty inane comment... ...in fact, that comment is more suitable to mainstream 1st person shooters, j-rpgs and fantasy rpgs. lets face it, modern warfare 1 is the same as 2 and 3... and every j-rpg is just "fun with math" tied in with some flashy androgynous characters... and most fantasy rpgs are just recycled j.r.r. tolkien creations. indie game companies coupled with kickstarter are going to be putting a serious hurt on the mainstream market, especially the publishers. the current market is saturated with the same 3 games over and over, and i welcome the indie games, sidescroller or not.

So many 2-D side-scrollers and platformers. :? I am getting more of an impression that when it comes to indie games, if you have played one, you have played a lot of them.
