A cool arcade classic.

User Rating: 7.8 | Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 ARC
Back in 1995, Midway released Mortal Kombat 3 for the arcades. It was met with mixed reviews due to the absence of Scropion, the combo system, and the cheap computer A.I. A few months later, Midway releases Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 which served as an update to MK3. The update included four new backgrounds, Does it live up to the "ultimate" moniker.

Gameplay: 7.9
Yes, the fighting system has flaws such as the combo system in which you have to hit the right buttons in only half a second. Also, as you progres, the A.I. becomes more prone to ducking and blocking. Luckily, you can chose from four difficulties. The run button is totally useless. Don't play as Kabal or Stryker because they are useless.

Graphics and Animation: 9
Despite being over a decade old, the graphics are great for a 2-D fighter. Most of the backgrounds are impressive. The character models are impressive because Midway videotaped live actors doing every move. However, it restricted the animation in terms of the performers moving realistically.

Sound: 8
The sounds are basic but they serve there purpose. The music is pretty good for using Midi technology and it sets the mood of the fight.

This coin-op is hard to find, but if you find it, I recommend you try it out.
