Story (4/10)
The story is this…a man named Calypso holds a tournament each year. The winner of the tournament will get a wish granted. Unfortunately, the tournament is a battle to the death…in cars of course. Also unfortunate is the fact that the story is barely implemented in the course of the game.

Gameplay (6/10)
You take control of one of a selection of available vehicles. In this vehicle you battle through many stages until you have defeated the entire competition. There is also a two-player mode in which you duel in a selected arena.

Imagine a demolition derby with machineguns, rockets, homing missiles, spikes, and fire. That is the basis of Twisted Metal. A cool idea, but implemented rather horribly. Besides the racers, there are many little people that shoot at you. This is a horrible idea. This is a terrible idea. I have no idea how anybody would think it is a good idea. It creates confusion, as you do not know who is shooting at you, and they continue to pop up, even after you have ran them over.

There are some positive aspects of the game. It is sort of addicting. Each character has its own special move. You start with 2 shots of your special move and they respawn over time.

Overall, it's not a bad idea, but the execution could do with some improving.

Graphics (4/10)
Besides a lot of pixilation all around, there is a lot of what I call twitch-glitches. This is what occurs when all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, when your car is hit it flips out uncontrollably and goes through a sort of seizure. If there is anything that would make a grown man say "eww, yucky" it is the graphics in this game.
