Good attemt at being the cop version at GTA, but it just isn't GTA

User Rating: 7.4 | True Crime: Streets of LA PS2
I bought this game a few years back looking for a GTA fix and it satisfied me for the most part. The game just gets old and repetitive after a while. It adds some fantasy elements that made it corny and should have been left out. Otherwise a good game. Nothing like finding a AK-47 on a 90-year old woman.

Gameplay- 7

Nothing groundbreaking. The controls work.... Frisking people is made simple. The shooting controls are no more different or innovative than your average GTA control. It can be somewhat difficult to pinpoint a specific target and you might accidentally kill a few innocent people in the process. The camera can get in the way as well. Driving can be a pain at times as the cars can be difficult to control leaving you wanting to walk when you travel short distances..

Graphics- 9

I like how the city is a mirror image of the real city. The animation of nearly every entity is almost on point when it comes to PS2 standards. It's cool to shoot up a block in the game while saying "Hey, I bought a burrito across the street from there. Oh, and the Staples Center looks very nice. Sound- 9

Cursing, voices, music are all pretty good. The sound effects are decent but nothing ground breaking. The weapons and explosions all contain realism but there is nothing GROUNDBREAKING about the sound which is why I can't give it a 9, but the fact that it's great nonetheless, it deserves a 9.

Value- 6

This game gets very repetitive. You find yourself doing virtually the same missions over and over again. They hardly involve anything innovative or new. Kill some bad guys, drive around, get another mission, kill some more bad guys. No multiplayer, no online.

Tilt- 7

I still like this game. It's fun to pick up once in a blue moon, complete a mission and then throw back into the vault. I think this game was a product of bad timing because it was released not too long before the San Andreas hype. This is a good game that could have been a whole lot better with some variety and a better storyline.
