Finally, a game for Generation 1 fans.

None of that modern movies crapness. This is the Transformers universe as the true G1 fans remember/imagine it. Is TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON worthy though?

Yes and no. The story is pure Transformers, the graphics and animations are well-done, the gameplay is intuitive (it certainly is fun to be able to transform at will), the characters are easily reconizable, the sound effects are good and remind us we are in a mechanized world. That's the good news.

Here's the bad news: the level design is visually very repetitive, but most importantly (for me at least) is the uneven difficulty between the boss encounters (very hard to near impossible) and the rest of the game (easy to medium).

In short, the environments should be more diverse and the game difficulty should be more constant throughout. Yet, this game is a first step into a very promising game franchise that I hope will evolve into something even non-Transformers fans will enjoy.

Pros: Easy to learn gameplay, good nostalgic immersion into the TF universe, player is free to transform at anytime, anywhere.

Cons: Inconsistant difficulty level, repetitive ambiance.

WOW moment(s): Some of the cutscenes – I could watch a full-length Transformers movie with this kind of animation anytime!
