User Rating: 9.2 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow XBOX
Ubi Soft's popular Splinter Cell franchise has been highly praised for its intense, and often frustrating gameplay, yet suffice to say its one of the gaming industry's most popular growing gaming franchises, with the release of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for the Xbox in 2002. Splinter Cell featured state of the art graphics in every form, engaging gameplay, and at the heart a great ficticious military story only offered in the Tom Clancy universe. Now with its latest edition, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomoroww is Ubi Soft's latest offering. Pandora Tomoroww delivers in every facet, in many ways exceeds its predecessor, offering a cosistent campaign, with a innovative multiplayer experience, while it still offers a stiff learning curve, Pandora Tomoroww is still a solid addition, and on its merits is everything a sequel should be. Pandora Tomoroww's storyline is filled with espionage, intrigue, and a fictious story all which are common in a Tom Clancy game. Sam Fisher is back on his latest assignment, and perhaps his most dangerous. After the US Embassy in Indonesia is overrun by a militant group led by an idealistic leader, Suhadi Sadono. It's up to Sam Fisher to derail Sadano's plan, while the games main story progresses through exceptional cutscenes, but the cutscenes mainly focus on giving you information than rather telling a story. The games overall pace is quite slow due to Splinter Cell's low-paced gameplay, but the cutscenes progress the story in a adequate pace. As its previous installment, Pandora Tomoroww's gameplay is very slow-paced oriented, and while not much has changed to its main core, you'll still have a few new tricks up your sleeves. Sam Fisher can now whistle, causing him attention in which Fisher can knock out his foe, or anybody who posses a threat to the mission. Once his back is on the wall, he can tap on the wall, and also cause attention. He can put his back on the wall, and swiftly and quietly end up on the other end. The game still takes stealth than all out shooting rampage, as the Splinter Cell franchises mainly focuses on stealth. While there really aren't any new additions to Pandora Tomoroww's main arsenal of high-tech gadgets, there have been a few new tools to help Fisher on his mission. In terms of high-tech espionage gadgets, Pandora Tomoroww is unmatched considering all the tools that are at the helm of Fisher, which makes him lethal in every considerable aspect. Every arsenal at your disposal is needed in Fisher's adventure, and they are all very useful. The soundtrack to Pandora Tomoroww is exceptionally well done, and fits along the many tense moments you'll encounter, the musical score is just well-done on all aspects. It manages to ratchet up the level of tension, in some of the games most heated situations which immerses and has you on the edge. The voice-acting is superbly done also, offering Michael Ironsides as the voice of Fisher. The overall persona that Ironsides brings is magically well done giving you the indication that Fisher is one tough cookie. The sound effects are well done also, whether it be the shots fired from Fisher's guns, or the games ambient sound effects such as fire crackling and fizzling. Pandora Tomoroww's sound is just as good as its graphics, because it mixes in the level of realism to the overall layer of Pandora Tomoroww's superbly done gameplay. It's undeniably one of the best looking games of 2004, if you haven't noticed. The lightning, shadowing, often leave Pandora Tomoroww with a real-world feel filled with intricate little details. The overall enviorment design throughout Pandora Tomoroww sticks to the real world, which means all the levels you'll come upon is rendered into a realistic enviorment. The games enviornments are just astounding whether it be its lush dense jungles, or its military installations, all in all the enviornments are extremely just as detailed as the characters themselves. The character models in Pandora Tomoroww are well done showing a layer of detail and real life look to them, the animations blend in with the masterful graphical prowess that Pandora Tomoroww offers. Some of the effects such as Fisher's night-vision-goggles, or his thermal visors are colorful, and and realistic in everyway. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomoroww lives up highly to the Splinter Cell name--not only does it exceed the original but its also the best stealth action oriented game ever created offering some most tense moments ever seen in a game. Not only does Pandora Tomoroww delivers in every way, but with the addition of multiplayer also makes it a more overall satisfying game. If the original Splinter Cell tickled your fancy, than you'll be highly impressed on what has been bestowed upon Pandora Tomoroww.
