This game brings the action back to the flight simulator genre

User Rating: 9.5 | Tom Clancy's HAWX PC
This game reminds me very much of the 1993 MS-DOS Strike Commander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strike_Commander). At that time it has been a game that didn't really try to be realistic compared to other flight simulator games. It was just about the fun of shooting down some bandits and it also has put the player in the situation of flying a fighter jet for a mercenary-like corporation (in Hawx at least at the beginning you are a mercenary). While other games try to simulate the controls in a modern fighter jet Hawx (just like Strike Commander has been ) is about the action of air combat. I have to admit that the atmosphere is very dense and you really have to act quickly in the game if you don't want to fail in your missions and that's on the difficulty level "Normal". I don't want to know how it's on the more difficult levels but "Normal" is probably what most people play. The graphics in the game is excellent with all the satellite images of real cities and landscapes. The controls are very good. I fly on the PC with a PS3-like gamepad and it's really a lot of fun even without a joystick. Actually the game has some bugs and flaws like tanks that hover above the ground on streets sometimes, wrong localization of the voice messages in the cockpit and some other minor glitches but overall this piece of software is a highly addictive action flight game. If you don't have it yet go get it now. It should be now around 15 EUR or 20 USD as a value game (Ubisoft Exlusive series).
